I-41/US-45 backups on May 10, 2024
GERMANTOWN, Wis. - An accident on I-41/US-45 southbound at the Washington County/Waukesha County line caused significant backups on the morning of Friday, May 10.
Traffic has been backed up for several hours but as of 11:30 a.m., traffic was flowing normally.
According to the Germantown Fire Department, a semitruck and at least one other vehicle were involved in an accident on the southbound stretch of freeway just north of County Line Road (County Q).

There was a large amount of diesel fuel spilled across the freeway, as one of the semitruck's saddle tanks was ruptured.
Due to the amount of fuel spilled, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was notified. North Shore environmental was contacted to help clean up the roadway and median.
