Accused drunk driver crashes through construction zone near 894, Greenfield

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- An accused drunk driver faces several charges after driving into the construction zone near I-894 and Greenfield.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the man drove through the barricades and hit a construction truck. 

The man then allegedly tried to get out of his car and run, but he was caught.

The entire area near I-894 and Greenfield was closed overnight Saturday, January 26th as part of the Zoo Interchange project.

Crews spent the weekend removing the old Greenfield Avenue Bridge.

A new bridge is expected in time for the Wisconsin State Fair.
