MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating after they say a vehicle, stolen during an armed robbery was involved in a crash at 17th and W. State Street on Saturday night, August 2nd.

It happened just before midnight.

Police say when the stolen vehicle was struck by another motorist, the 36-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle was ejected -- and is in serious condition at a hospital.

Police say the 23-year-old passenger of the vehicle was arrested at the scene -- and taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the striking vehicle's occupants were taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

"No matter where you are, crime rates rise in the summer," Steve Mann, who lives near where the crash happened, said.

Prior to the crash, police say the occupants of the stolen vehicle were responsible for the armed robbery of a 47-year-old woman.

That armed robbery occurred in the 2500 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue around 11:40 p.m.

Police say the same suspects committed an armed robbery in the 600 block of N. 18th Street at 11:45 p.m. The victims of this armed robbery are 19-year-old and 21-year-old women.

Suzanne Hoetzl and her husband and baby live nearby.

"It's usually around, after 10 o'clock that things start to get nutty. You don`t know what`s going to happen. You`re telling me in eight minutes, three women got held up, they stole a car and then they got into an accident? Are we missing anything else?" Hoetzl said.

Police are working to determine whether these suspects are connected to any other recent crimes.
