Milwaukee County Hanukkah holiday parade marks 20 years of tradition

Wednesday, Dec. 25 marks the first night of Hanukkah.

As people across the country celebrate the holiday, dozens of families took part in the annual parade of lights in Milwaukee County.

The parade was made up of roughly 70 cars. It started at the Peltz Center for Jewish Life in Mequon, then made its way to the Chabad of Glendale for a community menorah lighting.

"We drive around the city spreading the theme of Hanukkah," parade coordinator and Jewish Youth Foundation Director Rabbi Avremi Schapiro said. "The theme of Hanukkah is light. No matter how dark things seem, light will always outshine darkness."

This marked the parade’s 20th year.

Hanukkah runs through Jan. 2.
