MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The FBI needs your help locating a bank robbery suspect. He's considered armed and dangerous, and FBI officials say he's a "confident" criminal.
The Milwaukee Area Violent Crime Task Force, which consists of investigators from the FBI in Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Police Department, is attempting to locate 29-year-old Richard Gray of Milwaukee. He is believed to be in Milwaukee, somewhere on the near north side.
Richard Gray
Gray is a suspect in at least seven bank robberies or attempted bank robberies between October 30th, 2014 and February 20th, 2015.
On February 23rd, 2015, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office charged Gray with robbery of a financial institution for the October 30th robbery of the Seaway Bank and Trust on W. Fond Du Lac Avenue. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.
Gray is suspected and wanted for questioning in connection with the following robberies:
"Mr. Gray is generally what we describe as a 'note job' bank robber. He goes into the bank, presents a note to the teller and demands currency, some sort of proceeds from the robbery," an FBI official said.
FBI officials say Gray has confidence -- evident not only in the number of robberies he's wanted in connection with and because he's accused of robbing the same bank twice. He's also accused of robbing two separate banks in one day. FBI agents say the more confidence a criminal has, the more dangerous he is.
"Anybody who has enough confidence to rob a bank once is a problem, but if you've got enough confidence to continue to do it -- that raises the level of concern," an FBI official said.
Investigators believe it is only a matter of time before Gray is off the street.
"He is fully and positively identified. It's just the matter of the right viewer making the right telephone call. Don't approach him because at this point he has threatened a weapon, so he is considered armed and dangerous," an FBI official said.
Richard Gray is described as standing 6'3" tall and weighing 215 pounds. He has multiple tattoos on his arms and hands.
Gray remains at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He should not be approached. Anyone with information is urged to call the FBI at 414-276-4684.
