Arrested: Four teens expected to face charges after rollover crash involving stolen vehicle
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say four teenagers will face charges following a crash involving a stolen vehicle that occurred on Friday night, March 27th.
Around 11:00 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to a rollover crash on I-43, north of W. Capitol Drive.
North Shore Fire/Rescue crews and Glendale police also responded to the scene.
A Toyota Scion was found on its side against the median wall, facing southbound after striking a Chevy Malibu.
Four teenagers were inside the Toyota, and they fled the scene. They were located by Glendale police in the 4300 block of N. Port Washington Road.
Two girls, ages 14 and 15, and a 15-year-old boy were taken to Children's Hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained in the crash. They were passengers in the vehicle, Sheriff's officials say. All three are expected to face charges of being a passenger in a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. That charge carries a penalty of up to nine months confinement.
Sheriff's officials say one of the girls had an escape warrant after apparently walking away from New Horizons.
A 17-year-old boy was driving the vehicle. He was taken into custody for DUI (first offense), operating an automobile without the owner's consent and reckless driving causing bodily harm. Those charges carry a penalty of up to four years and six months confinement.
Sheriff's officials believe the car was stolen from Jose's Blue Sombrero in Brookfield. It is believed the 17-year-old boy, who is a former employee of the restaurant went to the restaurant and took the car keys out of a jacket pocket belonging to a current employee.
