As of 10 p.m. Friday night, 1,200 people in West Bend are still without power.

We Energies tells FOX6 it has crews working throughout the night, and they hope power will be restored to most people sometime Saturday.

Neighbors who live near Kilbourne Avenue and Juniper Court had been in the dark 20 hours when their power was restored at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dave Kovalaske came home from work to find his street still dark.

“We’re jealous because about two blocks over we could see the lights,” said Kovalaske.

His wife, Nancy, had been home all day.

The temperature inside the house had dropped to about 50 degrees.  The family was making plans to spend the night at their son’s house.

A few houses away, the Panten family was also without power.  The family of four got their news on Friday from a battery radio.

“We've been playing in the yard.  Making coffee on our camping stove,” said Rick Panten.

It was a snow day for 4-year-old Ben Panten and his sister, 8-year-old Lauren.

Their mom was supposed to go to work on Friday, but could not get her car out of the garage.

“ an electric garage door opener, which you can disengage, but we’ve got one of those old garage doors that weighs about a thousand pounds,” said Panten.

Despite the darkness, one family said they refused to cancel their plans.

A surprise 50th birthday party for Allen Carter went ahead as planned, thanks to a generator that lit up his garage.

“Great bunch of friends and family. They’re the best,” said Panten.
