MILWAUKEE -- The buses are back! Milwaukee County Transit System bus drivers returned to work early Saturday morning, July 4th after a three-day strike.
Service was shut down since the strike began on Wednesday, July 1st.
Union leaders have said all along they would return to work on the 4th of July, but add there are still a number of issues preventing them from accepting a deal.
Union President James Macon says their biggest complaint right now is the county's offer to hire more part-time drivers.
Due to the strike, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says all buses on Monday, July 6th will be free.
Abele says the free rides won't make up for the massive inconvenience riders felt this week. But it's the least officials can do to thank everybody for their patience.
