OCONOMOWOC (AP) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is skeptical about new job-creation numbers for 2011 that Gov. Scott Walker says are being released later this week.
Gov. Walker on Monday, May 14th said the new revisions coming less than three weeks before the June 5th recall election would show a brighter picture of the state's job creation efforts.
But Barrett says Walker has "brought in a fiction writer'' and is going to make up better numbers to tell a better story. The revision was to come from the state Department of Workforce Development. No one there immediately returned messages seeking comment.
Walker promised in 2010 to create 250,000 jobs over four years, but 15 months into his term only 5,900 jobs had been created.
