Big travel day: Packers fans fly out to Seattle for NFC Championship game
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On to Seattle! The Green Bay Packers face the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Seattle Sunday, January 18th for the NFC Championship game — and some Packers fans are looking to make travel arrangements for this weekend.
Short-notice flights aren’t cheap, but they're still available.
It takes about 29 hours to get to Seattle from Milwaukee by car, and it’s a nearly 2,000-mile trip — so flying is the quicker option — but already, flights for this weekend are filling up, as are hotels in the Seattle area.
There are those fans who will fly out to Seattle without a ticket — hoping they’ll find one there. Ticket brokers and travel agents say that’s risky, and they encourage fans to watch out for scams.
The rivalry will come to a head on Sunday on the field -- but first, it's gotta get through airport security.
Packers fans and Seahawks fans showed their colors as they boarded plane after plane on Friday, January 16th.
Tickets to this game did cost a pretty penny.
"It's going to cost us a couple grand but Packers are going to win," said Jeff Schoechert, Packers fan.
Schoechert is willing to pay it because he won't be able to go to the Super Bowl this year.
Many of the fans traveling for this weekend's game, like Schoechert, have never been to Seattle before and plan to make the most of the journey.
"We're going to have a ball," said Schoerchert.
Regardless where the fans are headed, there are plenty of fans decked out in their Packers colors and gear taking their Packer pride with them as they take to the skies.
Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18th at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
