Blackburn sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced 25-year-old Kevin Blackburn on Thursday, October 3rd for his role in the robbery of an Educators Credit Union on Appleton Ave. in May. He was also ordered to serve six years of extended supervision.
Blackburn was found guilty in August on three criminal charges including robbery of a financial institution, operating a vehicle without consent and fleeing an officer.
Blackburn was charged along with Ricardo Perkins in this case.
The criminal complaint indicates a note was passed to bank tellers demanding 100s, 50s, 20s be put through the drive-through draw window, or a bomb would go off.
The complaint says a teller sent the drive-through tube back containing money, and the tube was then sent back into the bank, but the suspect in a black Buick four-door vehicle remained at the drive-through station.
A bank teller thought the suspect wanted more money, so he filled the tube up with money from the teller drawer, and sent the tube out to the suspect a second time. Then, the criminal complaint indicates the suspects fled the scene westbound on Appleton Avenue towards Capitol Drive.
The criminal complaint indicates then, a second vehicle pulled up to the bank — also described as a black, four-door Buick. The complaint indicates the teller thought this vehicle was also involved in the robbery, and therefore tried to get a license plate.
The complaint says approximately $6,000 was taken during the robbery.
