OAK CREEK -- An Oak Creek bowling alley owner is declining an offer for donations. A law firm wanted to collect money for Classic Lanes as a gesture of thanks, because the bowling alley did a lot for the Sikh Temple shooting victims.
The owner of Classic Lanes told FOX6 News he wants to see any money go to the victims and those injured in the shooting August 5th.
Six were killed in the shooting, and three were critically injured.
The owner of Classic Lanes in Oak Creek hadn't planned for the bowling alley to be a place of relief for those involved in the incident, but it was. The business began assisting in any way -- with an offer of space, food, beverages and time.
Classic Lanes' owner, Al Passehl worked up to 38 hours straight during the shooting -- and some of his employees pitched in as well.
When FOX6 News talked to Passehl about his generosity a few days after the shooting, he was humbly quick to deflate it.
"I`m glad we were able to do what we could do. What we did was very little. God forbid this ever happens again to anybody in our community or any other one," Passehl said.
