The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-handed pitcher Brandon Woodruff to a two-year contract with a mutual option for 2026, the team announced Wednesday.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the team designated infielder Jahmai Jones for assignment.

"Back in November when we non-tendered Brandon, we said we had to make a very difficult decision relating to one of the best pitchers and human beings in franchise history," Matt Arnold, the team's general manager, said in a news release. "We also said we remained very open to his return to Milwaukee. Today, I am thrilled to say that Brandon has returned to the Brewers family. We look forward to guiding Brandon through his rehabilitation and ultimate return to the mound at American Family Field.

Brewers sign pitcher Jakob Junis, 1-year deal with option

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Wednesday, Feb. 7 that the team has signed right-handed pitcher Jakob Junis to a one-year contract.

Woodruff, who turned 31 on Feb. 10, was limited to 11 starts last season; he was on the injured list from April 11 through Aug. 5 with right shoulder inflammation. On Oct. 13, he had surgery to repair the anterior capsule in that shoulder – performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas. He is expected to miss most, if not all, of the upcoming season.

The two-time All-Star owns a career record of 46-26 with a 3.10 ERA and one save in 130 games (115 starts) during seven seasons in the Major Leagues, all with the Brewers. Woodruff is the all-time franchise leader in ERA (min. 500.0 IP), WHIP (1.05 - min. 500.0 IP) and winning percentage (.639 - min. 50 decisions). His 788 career strikeouts rank seventh in franchise history.

Woodruff was selected by Milwaukee in the 11th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Mississippi State University.
