FOX6 News spoke with the property owner off camera who said he tried to clean up a spot in the field where a deer carcass was laying. He set the small area where the deer carcass was on fire – and flames quickly spread.

The fire chief said the flames burned several acres – and took about two hours to douse. Chief Niederer said firefighters focused on keeping the flames from reaching nearby homes or buildings.
