Brookfield police seeking suspects in home burglaries

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- The Brookfield Police Department received three burglary reports to occupied residences and two possible attempted burglary reports to occupied residences early Thursday morning, September 19th.

According to officials, the reports began coming in around 3:30 a.m. for the vicinity of North Avenue and Springdale Road.

Of the three burglaries, two occurred when the suspect entered unlocked vehicles in the driveway, used the over-head garage door opener and gained access to the garage. In one incident, the suspect was confronted by the residents in the garage.

In another incident, the suspect gained access to an unlocked house.

Police say it appears the suspect is looking for small electronics or possibly wallets. In one case, credit cards were stolen, and used at a Walmart in West Milwaukee.

A suspect was observed wearing a backpack. It is believed the suspect is using a bicycle to move from one area to another while he is committing these burglaries.

The suspect is described as a black male possibly in his 20s, 5'08" - 5'10" tall with a medium to stocky build.

Brookfield police are reminding all residents to properly secure all doors and windows, turn on outside lights, be vigilant, and report any suspicious activities or persons to their local police department immediately.

Brookfield police believe the individual(s) who are breaking into homes are related to the rash of burglaries that took place in Menomonee Falls, and both departments are now working together.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Brookfield Police Department at 262-787-3614.
