Brown Deer police: Woman carjacked at gunpoint near strip mall; suspects fled at high rate of speed

BROWN DEER -- Brown Deer police are seeking suspects after a woman was carjacked at gunpoint while inside her vehicle in the parking lot of a strip mall on N. Green Bay Road.

It happened in broad daylight on Sunday, November 1st -- around 1:30 p.m.

Police say the woman was seated in her vehicle in the parking lot when two suspects pointed guns at her -- ordering her from her vehicle.

Both suspects then entered the woman's vehicle, and fled the scene.

The vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Juke SUV with Wisconsin license plate 137-TSW was last seen headed southbound on N. Sherman Boulevard at a high rate of speed.

The victim was not hurt in this incident.

Brian Dorow, the dean of criminal justice and homeland security at Waukesha County Technical College says this incident is an example of the fact that you can never let your guard down -- no matter where you are, or what you're doing. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings.

"This happens in small communities, large communities, and everything else in between," Dorow said.

Dorow says the victim in this case made a good choice by complying with the suspects' demands.

"It's not worth it. If you fear for your life that you may be abducted, held captive, whatever the case is, then you should fight back. But if they're asking for property, always back away and give them what they want," Dorow said.

With a seeming increase in these violent carjacking crimes in and around Milwaukee, Dorow says people should be on alert.

"Just always beware. Don't idle in one spot for too long. If it's not too good of an area, move on. Lock your doors," Dorow said.

Dorow says you can help police in the event you become a carjacking victim. Try to get a good description of the suspects. Things like unique tattoos can help police in identifying and locating suspects.

Anyone with information that could help Brown Deer police as they investigate this incident is asked to give them a call.
