Bucks arena development pact signed; construction to start by July 31

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks' arena-development arm must begin construction on the new downtown arena by July 31 and complete the project by September 2018, according to the Bucks' development agreement with the city of Milwaukee.

The starting and completion deadlines are later than previous statements by the Bucks owners on the timeline for the $500 million project. It is possible the Bucks could begin construction sooner than July 31, but they first must cross several hurdles.

Bucks spokesman Jake Suski could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday. He confirmed to the Milwaukee Business Journal Dec. 29, 2015, that construction might not start until late spring or early summer, but gave no date.
