Building partially collapses in Menomonee Falls; no one was injured
MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- At least one business is damaged after a building partially collapsed in Menomonee Falls Monday night, March 9th. It happened around 10:30 p.m. at an H&R Block located in a strip mall near Appleton and Pilgrim.
According to officials, the floor inside the H&R Block collapsed into a parking garage located underneath the building. The incident happened long after closing time.
The operations manager for H&R Block told FOX6 News that employees started noticing structural damage on Saturday, March 7th. She says they noticed the floor separating from the wall -- and claimed they could see underneath into the parking structure. As a result, all employees and client files were moved to another location. If you had an appointment at that particular H&R Block, you're urged to go to the other Menomonee Falls location -- just a few blocks south on Appleton Ave.
The Menomonee Falls Fire Department says no one was inside the business at the time of the incident, and no one was injured. Officials say no cars were damaged in parking garage.
Six other businesses operate out of the strip mall affected. All were shut down on Tuesday because of the collapse.
