BUSTED: Accused of burglarizing 100 storage units, two now in custody

WASHINGTON CO. (WITI) -- Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with around 100 storage unit burglaries that took place in Washington County in the first quarter of 2014.

The burglaries were taking place at multiple storage facilities in the Towns of Barton, Jackson, Kewaskum, Polk and Trenton.

During the course of the investigation, Washington County authorities identified a 54-year-old man and his 29-year-old nephew as being the prime suspects in these cases. Both suspects live in Milwaukee.

On April 22nd, four separate search warrants based on a Saukville Police Department case were executed in Milwaukee. More than 600 items were recovered at the four locations. Those items included three trailers, three motorcycles, two all-terrain vehicles and eleven guns.

Both suspects were taken into custody as a result of the warrant. The 29-year-old male was taken to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department, and the 54-year-old man remains in custody at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on a parole hold pending the request of formal charges.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is now in the process of identifying the owners of the stolen property. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has taken over 700 pictures and completed an inventory list of all the property seized. This information was then distributed to agencies that may have potential victims. Citizens who wish to inquire about specific property should contact the specific law enforcement agency that initially investigated the case.
