Hidden camera found in Oconomowoc porta potty
Oconomowoc police said a battery-operated camera was found inside a porta potty toilet on Tuesday.
OCONOMOWOC, Wis. - Oconomowoc police said a battery-operated camera was found inside a porta potty toilet on Tuesday, July 25.
Police are now urging the public to be on the lookout for hidden cameras in public restrooms. People at Bender Beach, where the camera was found, were disgusted Friday.
"There are just so many levels of ‘ick,’" said Kathleen Heckenkamp. "It’s very upsetting to me that, in our own neighborhood, there’s something strange going on."

Perhaps even more disturbing is Oconomowoc police said they found the camera hidden under the toilet seat. It has a lot of beachgoers on edge.
"It’s creepy. It’s weird," said Addison Hocevar.

"It’s disturbing and gross," Brianna Baumann said.
Police Chief James Pfister said investigators are analyzing the data on the device. He said he doesn’t know yet if the camera actually recorded anyone.

"That person needs an ankle monitor. That’s creepy," a beachgoer said.
Oconomowoc’s Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department has since checked all public toilets as a precaution. No other cameras were found.
Heckenkamp wants everyone to get back to enjoying the beach instead of worrying about who’s watching.

"There are a lot of kids who come here," Heckenkamp said. "I hope that they can find the perpetrator of this, because we want to keep our neighborhood safe."
Oconomowoc police declined an on-camera interview. The parks department director never returned FOX6's calls.
