Car hits MCTS bus, 1 dead

A Milwaukee crash involving an MCTS bus left one person dead on Saturday, Dec. 21. It happened at Oakland and Locust on the Upper East Side.

A Milwaukee crash involving an MCTS bus left one person dead on Saturday, Dec. 21.

It happened at Oakland and Locust on the city's Upper East Side. Milwaukee police said, around 12:30 a.m., a car sped into the intersection and hit the bus.

Driver killed, others hurt

Police said the 37-year-old driver of the car was killed. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the driver's name.

Fatal crash involving MCTS bus at Oakland and Locust

The Milwaukee County Transit System said paramedics took the bus driver and one passenger to a hospital. There were two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.

The people who were on the bus are expected to be OK.

Reckless driving

Investigators said the county bus had the right of way.

"They drive too fast, not paying attention to where they’re going, who’s in the intersection or not," said Rehana Sultana.

Kenneth Eckardt works at a nearby restaurant. He was off at the time of the crash, but told FOX6 News he sees bad driving happening all the time.

"Even though you can go through the intersection at a yellow light. I do see cars that go through the red fully," said Kenneth Eckard.
