GLENDALE -- Glendale police say they are no longer looking for a man who was described in a composite sketch -- a man who apparently offered a young boy a baseball. Officials say it turns out, it was all a misunderstanding.
Officials say the man described in the sketch was apparently new to the neighborhood and was going around meeting neighbors and giving kids he encountered baseballs.
The man and his wife went to the Glendale police station after seeing the story on the news -- and explained what was going on. The couple apologized for the confusion -- and police now consider the case closed.
Joel Dhein
In the meantime, Joel Dhein with the Glendale Police Department says the boy in this case did the right thing.
Dhein is known to kids as "Officer Friendly." He talks to thousands of kids about "Charlie Checklist," and the importance of checking with parents before getting close to any car.
"This eight-year-old did everything right and he should be commended for it," Dhein said.
