RACINE (WITI) -- Three people have been taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery at High Street Foods in Racine. The action was all captured by a surveillance camera. According to police, at approximately 8:13 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11th officers responded to High Street Foods located at 704 High Street in reference a commercial armed robbery. The clerk stated three suspects entered the store, one of whom displayed a handgun while the other suspects demanded cash. Agyapal Singh was the only one working at the time. "He said open that open that. This one, one it. I opened it, I said okay. He took the money and gone!" said Singh. Singh immediately called police. Minutes later, an officer was able to spot the suspects from Singh's descriptions. "When he stepped out of his squad car they took off running," said Lt. Aldred Days of the Racine Police Department. The foot pursuit ended when one suspect was located and taken into custody after trying to hide on the roof of Rojo’s tavern. "The two other suspects we were chasing went into a home on the 1300 block of Yout street. The officers set up a perimeter," said Days. Officers set up a perimeter -- and began negotiating to get the suspects out of the home. Police say the woman inside, who said she didn't know the two suspects, forced them out -- and they were arrested.
One of the suspects is identified by police as 20-year-old Marcel Byers. He has a history of arrests -- and was just released from jail less than 24 hours prior to this latest robbery. The other two suspects are 17 years old. Racine Police Investigators remain interested in obtaining additional information anyone may have regarding this crime.
