Cedarburg’s 38th Strawberry Festival; family-friendly fun

CEDARBURG, Wis. - Cedarburg's 38th annual Strawberry Festival was a great event for strawberry lovers. While the rain on Sunday morning, June 25 may have dampened the fun, there was still plenty to do throughout the weekend event.

Strawberry Festival visitors got to try some strawberry delights such as Strawberry Slush, Strawberry Crêpes, Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry Brats and much more.

"It's a must-see kinda thing," said Allison Becker. 

Downtown Cedarburg was full of fun for the annual Strawberry Festival, founded first on the love of Strawberry Blush Wine.

"It’s started small, but year after year, it’s gotten bigger, big enough now that it’s bigger than our original festival," said Cedar Creek Winery General Manager Steve Danner. "Everybody, well, there are people who don’t like strawberries, but I don’t know why." 

The fresh, strawberry-flavored delicacies pull attendees in year after year.

"I like getting the lemonade and the strawberry crêpes," said Becker. 

"Oh man, there's so much. I always stop by Java house and get my coffee, but my favorite thing Strawberry Fest related is probably the Strawberry Slushy," said Ellis Lynch.

Many Strawberry Festival vendors are local, while others travel from as far as Haiti. Lacey Joseph is an owner who brings handmade goods to sell every year.

"Strawberry Fest has always been super busy, and so it’s been great," said Joesph. "They’re super encouraging. They really love all these pieces."

Her business, Aldax + Co, serves Strawberry Fest and brings jobs to Haiti.

"Keeps us going and keeps us ready for next year to keep doing what we’re doing," Joesph said. 

Strawberry Fest is one that keeps people coming back.

"Highly recommend Strawberry Fest," said Hailee Lieglar. "Ten out of ten recommend." 

For 2023, the annual Strawberry Pancake Breakfast was canceled due to Sunday morning's rain.
