Charged, but not in custody: Police seek Andreal Washington in shooting death of Travis Williams

MILWAUKEE -- Criminal charges have been filed against a man accused in the death of Travis Williams. 31-year-old Williams was gunned down on April 30th at his home -- near 64th and Bobolink in Milwaukee.

The accused in this case is 47-year-old Andreal Washington of Milwaukee. He is facing one count of first degree reckless homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, police on April 30th were called out to the home at 64th and Bobolink, where they located Williams in the basement. Another man was holding a bloody towel to Williams' neck.

Williams did not have a pulse and was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was performed on May 2nd.

It was revealed that Williams had died as a result of two gunshot wounds.

The complaint indicates police spoke with a man who indicated he had known Williams since Williams was a child.

On April 30th, the man said he had received a call from "Black," who wanted the man to go with him to his cousin's house to play dominoes. The man said he realized "Black" was talking about his cousin, Travis Williams' home.

"Black" picked the man up, and they went to Williams' home.

When they arrived, the man told officers he saw a man and woman in the kitchen -- and he, "Black" and Williams went into the basement.

The man said they were in the house for about two or three minutes when a man "came charging into the basement with a gun in his hand -- pointing the gun at everyone." The man with the gun apparently started making comments directed at Williams, such as: "I told you I was gonna catch you," and "I am going to shoot you," and "where's my money at?"

The man told police he heard one shot and then saw Williams on the floor.

This man was re-interviewed by police on May 1st, and according to the complaint, he lied about knowing the victim and the reason why he was at the victim's home. He indicated he had gone to Williams' home to act as a middleman for a friend who wanted to purchase some Percocet.

The complaint says the man was able to identify the alleged shooter via a photo array.

Williams' mother was also interviewed by investigators.

She indicated that she had returned home around 5:00 p.m. on April 30th, and Williams called her and said he wanted to come over. Williams arrived at the home, and a short time later, a friend of Williams, known as "Drell" came to the home. Shortly after "Drell" arrived, a third friend, known as Tony came to the home.

Williams' mother told officials "Drell" left to get something to drink, and shortly after he returned, two more friends arrived at the home.

Travis Williams and two of the friends then went into the basement, with Williams' mother and two others remaining upstairs.

Shortly thereafter, Williams' mother said Williams called her into the basement, and when she went downstairs, she saw money on the table. She then noticed that "Drell" was in the basement and that "Drell" had pulled out a gun.

Williams' mother told investigators "Drell" said the gun was loaded and that he would "shoot everyone."

Williams and two of his friends began to argue with "Drell," and Williams began to walk towards "Drell," and she heard one shot.

Williams' mother then called 911.

Williams' mother identified the shooter as Andreal Washington via a photo array.

Travis Williams was a father of four.

This was the 39th homicide in Milwaukee in 2016.

An arrest warrant was issued for Washington on Thursday, May 5th.
