MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A 37-year-old Mount Pleasant man has been arrested on several charges after police responded to a home on Plainfield Avenue Sunday, February 22nd from a woman who was found at the home suffering from injuries.
Gregory Kremis
Police were called out to the home early Sunday morning -- just after 1:00 a.m.
They say they received a 911 call from a woman inside the home. That woman didn't speak to a 911 dispatcher -- apparently out of fear, but that dispatcher could hear arguing in the background.
When police arrived at the home, they found the woman standing inside the front door of the home with facial injuries. Police learned those injuries were the result of a physical altercation that had taken place between the woman and the 37-year-old man -- identified as Gregory Kremis.
Police say they were able to make eye contact with Kremis through a door.
Shortly thereafter, police say Kremis ran down a hallway -- away from officers.
Police utilized a K9 officer in a search of the home, and Kremis was not located. Police learned he had fled out a different door of the home.
The female victim was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Police interviewed that woman at the hospital, and they learned that Kremis had assaulted her, apparently during an argument over drugs.
Police eventually took Kremis into custody with assistance from police in Caledonia and Racine. He was found hiding in a home on Charles Street in Caledonia. He was arrested Monday morning, February 23rd.
In their search of the home in Mount Pleasant where the alleged assault occurred, police say they found drugs and drug paraphernalia -- including a drug grow operation which consisted of marijuana plants. We're told several marijuana plants and other items were seized from the home.
Kremis now faces the following criminal charges:
Kremis is due in court for his preliminary hearing on March 4th.
