MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Fire crews responded to a fire at a child care center at 2001 W. Vliet Street in Milwaukee Thursday night, November 14th. The child care center will not be holding classes Friday, November 15th as a result of the fire.
When firefighters arrived on the scene around 7:14 p.m. they observed heavy smoke coming out of the building.
After the fire was put out, We Energies was called to the scene to assess damage to the building's electrical and gas systems.
There was no mention of injuries, and the the Deputy Chief with the Milwaukee Fire Department believes the fire occurred after the center had closed for the day.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
