Contact 6: Trial set for James Gardetto for March 13

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- A Contact 6 follow up on a TV repairman whose consumer crimes will force him to finally face a jury in Waukesha County Court.

James Gardetto is charged with engaging in unfair trade practices between June and August 2011, but is also facing other, similar charges in three different counties!

During a preliminary hearing Tuesday, two former customers testified how Gardetto came to their homes for electronics repair, asked for hundreds of dollars before doing any work, and then demanded an unusual method of payment.

"(I paid him) with a check, written out to 'cash.' He demanded it was written out to 'cash,' and I wanted to write the check out to the name of the company, and he would not allow me to do that," Kim Woldt said.

"I made it out to 'cash,' and I questioned that, and he got a little upset with me and said 'that's how we do our business. I've been in business for 18 years. Don't question me,'" Sandra Gillman said.

Gardetto's Waukesha County trial is set for March 13th. He's also facing trials in Milwaukee and Racine counties.
