GERMANTOWN -- County Line Elementary School in Germantown was evacuated Wednesday, May 25th due to a threat.
Germantown police say around 9:45 a.m., police and fire officials responded to the school, located on Butternut Road for a bomb threat.
Police learned that an employee at the school had received a bomb threat via telephone.
School staff members immediately called 911 and began evacuating the school.
During an initial investigation, officers were not able to confirm that this was an automated phone threat similar to what other schools have been recently experiencing.
Students were evacuated to a nearby church, and were dismissed from that location to go home for the day.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office sent its Explosive Ordnance Disposal K-9 units to the scene to check the school for any potential hazards. There were no hazards discovered.
The Germantown Police Department will be working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if the County Line School threat was similar to other recent school bomb threats.
The investigation is ongoing.
