Couple donates $5 million to University of Wisconsin computer department
MADISON — A Milwaukee businessman and his wife have donated $5 million to the University of Wisconsin-Madison's computer sciences department.
The university announced the donation from Sheldon Lubar and his wife, Marianne, on Friday.
UW-Madison alumni John and Tashia Morgridge matched $2 million of the Lubars' donation, bringing the total amount of money the department will receive to $7 million.
The money will go to endow two chairs and two professorships as well as establish an endowed discretionary fund.
Sheldon Lubar graduated from UW-Madison's law school in 1953. He went on to found an investment firm in Milwaukee and serve as president of the UW System Board of Regents.
