Deputies arrest two repeat OWI offenders over weekend

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two repeat OWI offenders over the weekend.

On Friday, July 13th, a deputy responded to a report of a vehicle that hit the median wall on eastbound I-94 just west of 35th Street just before 7 p.m.

53-year-old Charles Young of Milwaukee was behind the wheel -- and he tested a .18 on a breathalyzer test. He was arrested for his fifth drunk driving offense.

Young said that he fell asleep behind the wheel. Officials say a small baggie of marijuana was found during a search. He faces drug charges and the drunk driving felony -- and now faces up to six years and one month in prison.

The second repeat OWI offense occurred just before 11 p.m. Deputies responded to a
call reporting a reckless driver traveling northbound on US 41 near Bluemound Road. The
vehicle had hit the median barrier and another vehicle on the freeway. Nobody was hurt.

Evelyn Williams

28-year-old Evelynn Williams was the driver of that second accident. She had an 11-month-old child in the car.

Officials say she was incoherent and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for an evaluation prior to being conveyed to the County Correctional Facility-Central. The child was evaluated at Children’s Hospital and later placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

This is Williams' ninth OWI charge. If convicted, she faces up to six years in prison. She also faces up to 12-and-a-half years in prison on a charge of first degree recklessly endangering safety.
