Deputies called out to Trailside Elementary School again for threat, 10 days after first threat

WATERFORD -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say deputies were dispatched to Trailside Elementary School in the Village of Waterford on Monday, October 19th after a threatening message was found inside the school. This, 10 days after officials were on hand at the school for a threat.

The latest incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. That's when deputies were dispatched to the school -- after initial reports indicated staff members discovered the threatening message in a restroom at the school.

When deputies arrived, classes were concluding for the day, and an investigation began.

Through the course of that investigation, it was quickly determined that the threat to the school was not credible.

Additionally, there was no information to indicate any credible threats to any other facilities within Racine County.

Sheriff's investigators quickly identified a juvenile party that claimed responsibility for communicating the threat. The juvenile was taken into custody and investigators are working with human services and the Racine County District Attorney's Office.

Sheriff's officials are reminding parents to have a discussion with their children regarding the seriousness and potential consequences associated with these types of incidents.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Ten days ago, Sheriff's deputies were called out to the school for a threat found in a bathroom at the school. That threat was found on Friday morning, October 9th.

In a message to parents, school officials say they immediately notified law enforcement and evacuated the building.

Sheriff's officials said they were speaking with a person of interest in connection with that threat.
