Downtown trolley service kicks off 2013 season

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Downtown Milwaukee’s trolley service, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee, will roll out Thursday, May 23rd.

Operated by Transit Express, the privately funded service will run Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., May 23rd through August 31st. One complete loop is 40 minutes. Two trolleys will service the “Hop ‘n Shop, Wine ‘n Dine” route to offer 20-minute headways at designated stops. Rides are $1 per person, round trip.

Attractions along the Milwaukee Trolley Loop route include the Milwaukee Public Market, Delta Center, Milwaukee Public Museum, Jazz in the Park, East Town Market, KidZ Days, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, boat cruises and the theater and hotel districts. The route also encompasses downtown’s many restaurants, shops, spas and salons, making it ideal for a girlfriend’s escape.
