Driver arrested for OWI after car starts on fire on I-43

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials responded to a car fire on I-43 at the Mineral Street off-ramp early Sunday morning, May 5th.

Officials say a driver drove through a construction zone and into a two foot deep drop in the pavement, which caused the car to start on fire.

The driver was able to escape, and was taken to the hospital -- and is expected to survive.

That driver was also arrested for OWI (first offense).
