Driver crashes into light pole, tree near Silver Spring & Long Island while trying to avoid police

GLENDALE -- Glendale police tell FOX6 News a driver is being charged with felony fleeing and operating while impaired after striking a light pole and tree while trying to avoid police.

It happened early Wednesday morning, August 3rd near Silver Spring Drive and Long Island Drive.

According to authorities, around 1:00 a.m. a Glendale officer attempted to stop a vehicle traveling more than 80 miles-per-hour westbound on Silver Spring Drive. The vehicle fled.

Officials say the driver crashed into a light pole and tree while trying to avoid a deflation device.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.
