EAU CLAIRE (AP) — An 18-year-old Eau Claire man is accused of killing a dachshund by slitting the little dog's throat.
An Eau Claire Leader-Telegram report says Christopher S. Bong is charged with mistreating animals.
His preliminary hearing is set for May 27.
A call to his public defender's office Sunday after hours disconnected without taking a message.
A woman whose son is friends with Bong told police that Bong came to her home May 10 about 3 a.m. She says he was upset, had blood on his hands and said he'd killed a 15-year-old girl's dog.
The woman says Bong claimed the girl's mother wanted the dog dead because it had attacked her. The girl's mother tells investigators she never said anything about wanting the dog harmed.
