Eight car thefts in one month...and they have something in common
MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police say in the last month, they have taken eight "theft from vehicle" complaints in the south and east areas of the Village of Mount Pleasant. Police say there have been a total of 18 complaints since the beginning of the year.
Police say in some cases, more than one vehicle was targeted at a particular residence.
In one incident, a suspect had entered a vehicle that was parked in someone's open garage.
The following incidents have been reported over the past month:
Police say in most of these cases, the suspect or suspects targeted UNLOCKED VEHICLES!
Items stolen include: coins, electronic devices, purses, guns, tools, etc.
No one is in custody in connection with these incidents.
Police say citizens should remove valuable items form their vehicles or conceal them, LOCK THEIR CAR DOORS and close their garage doors.
Exterior lighting can also minimize the chances of you becoming a victim -- as most criminals don't want to be seen or heard.
