Electricial smell in cockpit prompts Southwest captain to declare emergency
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Southwest Airlines flight from Orlando, Florida to Milwaukee landed safely -- but only after an electrical smell in the back of the plane prompted the jet's captain to declare an emergency.
A call came into Mitchell International Airport shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 17th for a possible mechanical problem. The plane was not diverted -- and landed in Milwaukee as intended.
The flight was supposed to continue to Los Angeles, but another plane was brought in to complete that leg of the trip. Southwest said it was investigating a possible mechanical problem.
There was a crew of five and 127 customers on board the plane. Nobody was hurt.
