Elizabeth Lake recovery effort; body of 70-year-old recovered

TWIN LAKES, Wis. - Crews recovered the body of a 70-year-old ice fisherman who went into Elizabeth Lake on Thursday night, Jan. 30.
The Twin Lakes Police Department, Twin Lakes Fire Department, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, and other assisting agencies resumed the recovery effort on Friday, Jan. 31.

What we know:
According to the Village of Twin Lakes Police Department, the incident happened when a UTV carrying three people went through open water on the lake.
According to the two other men on board, the driver (the 70-year-old) did not realize there was open water, and believed it was just water pooling on top of the ice.
The two other men were able to get out of the water safely and declined medical transport.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office said multiple people fell through the ice on Elizabeth Lake in Twin Lakes on Thursday.
The 70-year-old man remained unaccounted for – after an ATV broke through the ice.

Two other individuals who were also on the ATV were able to make it out safely. They were evaluated by Twin Lakes Rescue and declined transportation to the hospital, police said.
