ELKHORN, Wis. - Elkhorn police said a man and woman were found fatally shot at a sports bar early Thursday, Feb. 1. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, and police are looking for the shooter.
The incident took place at Sports Page Barr shortly after midnight. The medical examiner's office identified the victims as 33-year-old Emerson Weingart and 37-year-old Gina Weingart.
Friends and family told FOX6 News the two were recently married. A friend said Gina was a bartender at Sports Page Barr, and Emerson was there to keep her company when the shooting happened.

"We are all just devastated right now and pray that Emerson and Gina get the justice they deserve," Leland Weingart, Emerson's brother, told FOX6 via text.
Outside the downtown Elkhorn bar, a small memorial formed on the sidewalk. Neighbors in the area are still trying to understand what took place.

"All of a sudden we heard like a firework sound, you could almost feel," said Shanoon Wootan, who lives above the bar. She said one of the bullets ended up inside a nearby hair salon.
"It's just shocking," Jenna Wasser said. "Something like this never happens here."

As police tape comes down, neighbors are looking for some peace – and for an arrest to be made. The circumstances of the fatal shooting are under investigation.
"We do not know at this time if it was a robbery or if it was targeted against the individuals. We have no reason to believe that it is. But until we have the evidence at the scene, we can’t determine it was simply a robbery," Elkhorn Police Chief Joel Christenson said.

The incident is under investigation by the Elkhorn Police Department, the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office, Wisconsin State Crime Lab and Wisconsin State Patrol.
