Emotional send-off: 100+ troops from the 32nd Military Police Company ready for duty



MILWAUKEE -- It was an emotional send-off on Monday, May 16th as families and loved ones said goodbye to more than 100 soldiers. Those troops, members of the 32nd Military Police Company, are headed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"You know, they're giving up their loved ones for quite a while -- for many months," said Joe Trovato, public affairs officer for the Wisconsin National Guard.

Gov. Scott Walker was at the base for the 128th Air Refueling Wing for the send-off ceremony.

"Even as we speak, there are men and women deployed from this great state," Walker said.

The MPs are deploying to Cuba to perform detention operations at the U.S. Naval Station. The mission is expected to last one year.
