MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Five people were shot and wounded in separate incidents late Saturday, May 16th and into Sunday. These incidents came just hours before Milwaukee was set to recognize its annual Ceasefire Sabbath.
The first in this latest round of shooting incidents happened at 7:30 p.m. near 16th and Locust. A 34-year-old man suffered a non-life threatening injury. The shooting allegedly occurred as a result of a robbery. However, officials say the victim is not being forthcoming as to what occurred and delayed reporting the incident for a period of time. There are no suspects in custody.
Around 9 p.m., there was gunfire near 41st and Lisbon. A 26-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries. The shooting occurred as a result of a dispute. Again, there are no suspects in custody.
Police were called to the neighborhood near 25th and Wells around 1:30 a.m. A 19-year-old man sustained a non-life threatening injury. The motive for the shooting is unknown -- and there are no suspects in custody.
Just five minutes later, gunfire was reported near 35th and Hope in Milwaukee. A 30-year old man suffered non-life threatening injuries after an altercation. There are no suspects in custody.
Police were also on the scene of a shooting near 25th Street and W. Auer Avenue on Saturday night. Police say one person was shot, but that person was able to drive themselves to the hospital for treatment. No one is in custody.
No further, specific details as to what occurred have been released.
