Extensive flooding reported in southeast Wisconsin, 2-6 inches of rain has fallen

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN -- Heavy rain is causing flooding in some Wisconsin communities. This, as Flash Flood Watches and Warnings were in effect until 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 12th.

Walworth County had multiple severe weather cells roll through the area -- producing heavy rainfall, in excess of six inches in most areas.

This resulted in severe widespread flooding throughout Walworth County, which has caused the closure of many roads in the Elkhorn, Lyons and Lake Geneva areas. This includes many state and county highways, resulting in difficulty traveling through the area.

The flooding has also caused damage to many houses in the area, and there have been some evacuations of residences near locations of high water. There are also instances of power outages related to these storms in the area.

There have been no reports of injuries at this time.

The FOX6 Weather Experts say several inches of rain has already fallen and extensive flooding has been reported in many communities.  Rain will continue overnight and into Thursday before high pressure can get in here to dry us up for while.



At 10:00 a.m. , Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated  indicated that heavy rain has fallen over the area under a flash warned warning -- which included Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties. Between two and six inches of rain have fallen so far, with localized amounts around seven inches. Additional rainfall is possible today. A flash flood warning may need to be reissued if additional heavy rainfall affects the area.

Flash flooding has already occurred.

According to the National Weather Service, some locations that will experience flooding include --  Kenosha, Mount Pleasant, Pleasant Prairie, Whitewater, Elkhorn, Delavan, Lake Geneva, Sturtevant, Twin Lakes, Union Grove, East Troy, Paddock Lake, Williams Bay, Camp Lake, Rochester, Genoa City, Walworth, Silver Lake, Richmond and Fontana-On-Geneva Lake.
