OAK CREEK -- The service at Oak Creek high School was a very public way for the community to pay respect. Some family members and others agreed to share more private thoughts with FOX6's Myra Sanchick.
It is the lessons of the Sikh faith that keeps Shebazdeep Kaleka moving forward. His Uncle Satwant Kaleka was shot to death in the temple on August 5th. He says his uncle was not only his personal advisor, but as the priest of the temple he was the glue which held the community together.

Sitender Singh Mahli's father was shot to death at a Sikh temple near Los Angeles in 2000. he's come to Wisconsin to help the families suffering the loss of a loved one. He said, "This is not a Sikh tragedy. This is not an Indian tragedy. This is indeed an American tragedy. The people who were slaughtered here in cold blood by this coward. We're Americans who sought sanctuary in a house of worship."
Many of the families who lost someone to the August 5th shooting rampage will spend the afternoon at the temple as the holy scriptures are read.
