Farewell ceremony for members of 452nd Combat Support Hospital Sunday

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Members of the 452nd Combat Support Hospital conducted a farewell ceremony for unit members and their families on Sunday, November 10th.

The group of about 150 soldiers  is headed to Kuwait, and will deploy in the next 30 days -- and return in 2014. They are medics and support staff charged with caring for injured soldiers in some of the harshest conditions.

About 40 percent have been deployed before, but most have not.

Among those involved in the ceremony Sunday was the Outlaw family. They were found capturing some of the final moments with Captain Sedoria Outlaw before she leaves for Kuwait.

"It's gonna feel empty because she does a lot for our family. The holidays are going to be kinda lonely without her," Outlaw's sister, Danyelle said.

For Danyelle Outlaw, not having her sister close by was starting to set in on Sunday.

"I was happy to see her leave, but now that I'm talking about it, I guess I'm getting the feeling that I don't want her to leave," Danyelle Outlaw said.

The unit members and their families participated in a military farewell ceremony Sunday that included a mini resource fair for the family members.

"It means a lot to us. It means a lot. It's very touching," Danyelle Outlaw said.

Several veteran serving organizations volunteered to provide resources/deployment support information to the families prior to the ceremony.

Some of the veterans organizations in attendance were the Red Cross, Dry Hooch,  Center for Veterans Issues, Warrior Watch, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Pets for Veterans.
