MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee firefighters battled an attic fire on the city's east side Saturday morning.
Crews were called to the duplex at 1006 Land Pl. just after 9:30 a.m. Smoke was seen coming from the windows in the upstairs unit. The battalion chief tells FOX6 News they had the fire under control in about a half-hour.
No one was hurt in the fire but three people were displaced. The Red Cross is helping those victims find shelter. A cat was also rescued.
The battalion chief estimated there was $5,000 dollars worth of damage to the building, and another $1,000 dollars of damage to personal property.
Fire investigators are on scene working to determine a cause.
