Firefighters called out to separate garage fires in Racine
RACINE -- Firefighters on Sunday, April 15, responded to separate garage fires in Racine that happened within about seven hours of one another.
The first happened on Monterey Dr. in Racine. The call came around 7:45 a.m.
According to authorities, fire crews found a working fire in a detached garage. The fire was quickly extinguished.
The Racine Fire Department said the cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
The property was turned over to the homeowner.
Damage is estimated around $25,000.
The second fire happened around 2:30 in a garage and attached storage shed on Republic Ave. in Racine.
Fire officials said upon arrival, heavy smoke was seen coming from the detached garage to the east of the home. The fire was knocked down quickly. It was contained to the garage and attached storage shed.
No one was hurt.
Damage is estimated around $45,000.
