Firefighters to the rescue! Oak Creek FD shares photos of ducklings pulled from sewer, reunited with mom
OAK CREEK -- On a hot and humid Sunday, July 24th, with a Heat Advisory in effect for most of southeastern Wisconsin, firefighters with the Oak Creek Fire Department stepped in to rescue some baby ducks that fell through a sewer gate.
Officials with the Oak Creek Fire Department posted on social media photos of the rescue, that happened after they received a call from a concerned citizen.
This happened at the Woodman's store in Oak Creek -- and the citizen reported the agitated mother duck was nearby.
Firefighters were able to access the baby ducks and carry them to safety. They were reunited with their mother, and the family then waddled away from the scene.
Officials with the Oak Creek Fire Department say these kinds of rescues are actually more common than you may think -- given the number of retention ponds in the city.
