First look: Nordstrom at Mayfair Mall will be first full-line store in Wisconsin, and it opens Friday!

WAUWATOSA -- First, the discount "Nordstrom Rack" opened in Wisconsin -- and soon, the very first full-line store will open at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa. The store's opening is set for this Friday, October 23rd -- and on Monday, FOX6 News got a sneak peek.

"We're always excited to open stores," Salimah Karmali, Nordstrom spokeswoman said. "We're opening our doors with the best guess of what customers want -- but once we open our doors is when the real work begins."

The Seattle-based fashion retailer will soon open in Wisconsin.

"Announced back in November 2012 our plans to open a store here in Milwaukee," Karmali said.

Nordstrom offers men's apparel, women's apparel, kids' apparel, accessories, makeup and of course, shoes.

"We are going to open with 11 skilled tailors," Karmali said.

It is the kind of opening that is attracting a lot of media, including three fashion-focused high school students from Wauwatosa West High School. On Monday, they were live-tweeting the preview tour for their schools print and online newspaper, West Side Stories.

"Our plan was to first get the experience of a press tour and we want to have an article and with some of the B-roll I have on my iPad. Want to do a snip it that's 'hey Wauwatosa West, here's a new store,'" Kenna Gallegos-Roll said.

This broadcast team had positive reviews after taking a look at the new store.

"I'm actually digging it a lot. There are a lot of shoes," Gallegos-Roll said.
