MADISON— A fisherman was treated for hypothermia after he broke through the ice and was rescued on Lake Mendota.
Dane County sheriff's deputies and Madison and Middleton firefighters were called to the Marshall Park boat launch Wednesday morning, January 20th.
Authorities say a 60-year-old Madison man drove an ATV about a mile from shore to fish and broke through. The fisherman had a floatation device and cling to it until rescue crews arrived.
Sheriff's officials deployed airboats for the rescue which they say has compromised already fragile ice conditions.
